The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) received a public complaint regarding the smell nuisance near Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Bunga Raya 2, Bukit Beruntung today.

The preliminary investigation was carried out at 11.00 am. During the visit, the members found that the odor nuisance complaint exists and can cause discomfort to the residents. The cause of the smell was identified as being from a pile of fertilizer sacks in a banana garden which is 10 meters from the residential area and the school.

A total of 1600 sacks of chicken manure were piled near the area. The operatives met with the orchard operator and he informed that the fertilizer was used for the planting of 600 banana trees in his 4-acre orchard.

The businessman also informed that he rented the land from the developer. While the chicken excrement used has been treated, and mixed with wood dust obtained from a supplier in the Batang Kali area.

Further inspection was carried out and found that the place where the manure pile (blue) is zoning is transportation & community facility institutions (Education). While the garden area (red) is the institutional zoning of community facilities (government use).

The department will issue a Notice Requiring Nuisance Removal (Local Government Act 1976) for a period of 7 days to entrepreneurs and developers, besides the report will be extended to the Department of Agriculture and the Selangor District and Upland Land Office for joint action.
