The dawn of 2022 has dawned. Every time we approach a new year, we tend to sketch a new resolution. Such ambitions are because we want a better future not only for ourselves but also for our family, society and country.
We set the intention and strengthen the determination to be the one
ÂÂ
the best
ÂÂ
We refuse to be enveloped in despair and ignited by disappointment. We don't want to give up. We immediately get up.
When the curtain of 2021 begins to fall, some places in Selangor are filled with bad luck. Floods destroy property and take lives. Waima was hit by a disaster, the State Government and the people of Selangor were quick to act to deal with this terrible flood.
ÂÂ
We show the true strength of the multi-racial Malaysians. The clarity of our soul overcomes the turbidity of difference. We witnessed the cooperation of civil servants and volunteers to help flood victims despite facing various unexpected storms.
Certainly when the spirit is at its peak to help, there are certain mistakes here and there. But we are aware that everyone involved wants to immediately rescue and help the victims.
ÂÂ
It is not my intention to create a thousand excuses. Whatever weakness occurs I will immediately fix it and make sure it won't happen again.
Based on the "whole of society" approach (involvement of all levels of society), we thoroughly ensure that all forms of aid are channeled to flood victims both during and after the tragedy.
ÂÂ
The State Government started handing out RM1,000 worth of Selangor Bangkit aid contributions to flood victims since 28 December 2021. So far, 2,531 individuals in all nine districts of Petaling, Klang, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor, Sepang, Gombak, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor benefited from this assistance, making the initial amount up to now RM2.5 million.
The State Government is also in the framework of providing assistance with gas stoves and others to cover the burden faced by flood victims.
According to Professor Ibrahim Komoo, professor emeritus of the environment and sustainability cluster at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, this disaster is "a combination of landslides in the Penchala River, debris flows in the upper reaches of the Lui River, debris floods in the Lui River valley and major floods in most other low-lying areas in Shah Alam and Klang".
ÂÂ
Taking lessons from these various factors, the State Government plans to make climate change one of the important elements in any future planning.
On this occasion, I wish all Malaysians, especially Selangor, a Happy New Year. May our efforts, efforts and efforts for next year be better than this year, God willing.
