The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) through the Landscape Department has organized a Seminar in conjunction with World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) themed "Legacy Landscape" in collaboration with the ILAM Center of Excellent (ICE) located at Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country on 15 April 2023.
This seminar aimed at knowledge sharing and 'talk session' was officiated by YB Ng Sze Han, Exco of Local Government, Public Transport and Kampung Baru. Also present with MohdHasry Nor Mohd, President of MPHS, YAD Raja Dato' Muzaffar Raja Redzwa, Chief of Hulu Selangor District, Roslee Abdullah, Director General of the National Landscape Department, Prof. LAr. Dr. Nor Atiah Ismail, President of the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM), LAr. Dr. Badrulzaman Jaafar, Chairman of the Public Malaysian Landscape Architect Association, Mohd Zailani Jamil, President of the Malaysian Arborist Association, Siti Hajar Johor, Senior Record Consultant Malaysia Book of Records and Awaluddin Zakaria, MPHS Deputy Chairman.
The 2 topics discussed in the seminar are the Legacy Landscape and the New Generation & Challenge. The seminar was attended by landscape consultants, developers, arborists, local contractors, directors and MPHS department representatives, lecturers and students from Universiti Putra Malaysia, International Islamic University, Universiti Teknologi Mara and Universiti Sultan Idris and residents' associations.
After finishing the seminar session, the ceremony continued with the presentation of the winners' prizes for the Beautiful Environment Program (PIP) 2022. For the housing category, Perumahan Desa Melor, Serendah was crowned as the winner who successfully brought home a prize amounting to RM 15,000.00 while the second place was won by Perumahan Desa Anggerik, As low with a prize of RM6,000.00 and followed by Perumahan Jalan Inai, Bukit Beruntung with a prize of RM 5,000.00.
For the high-rise building category, Seri Bakawali Apartment, Bukit Sentosa won with a prize worth RM15,000.00 and second place was won by Anggerik Apartment, Taman Bunga Raya with a prize of RM 6,000.00.
In the same ceremony, MPHS also launched the Indah Persektiran Program (PIP) for the year 2023 which was completed by Awaludin Zakaria, Deputy President of MPHS accompanied by LAr Mohd Fadhil Mohd Lani, Director of the Landscape Department of MPHS. The competition period starts from 1 May 2023 until 1 November 2023.
In addition, a briefing session related to the Hulu Selangor Landscape Blueprint (HSLBp) 2035 was delivered by LAr. Norliza binti Mohd Yusof, Clouston Design Sdn Bhd) to the seminar participants.
The closing ceremony ended with an Iftar session with all the participants present. Many thanks to ICE (ILAM Center of Excellent) as a seminar partner, the National Landscape Department (JLN) and the Landscape Architects Institute of Malaysia (ILAM) for providing solid cooperation and support throughout the program.
