MPHS RECORDS NAME IN MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS AS THE FIRST PBT TO ORGANIZE WLAM CELEBRATION
The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council forged a name in the Malaysia Book of Record (MBOR) for successfully organizing the World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) celebration every year without fail since it began on April 3, 2016. This recognition was obtained through the "Living World & Nature" category. as the First Local Authority to host the WLAM celebration.
This celebration was welcomed as one of MPHS's efforts in supporting the wishes of the former Prime Minister at the time (Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad) in enforcing the Malaysia National Park policy.
Dato' Lar Ismail bin Ngah, as the first individual to hold the position of Director General of the National Landscape Department at that time, was given the mandate to ensure that the policy was implemented in elevating the landscape architect profession in Malaysia. Through his administration, Malaysia celebrates National Landscape Day on March 3 every year.
The Malaysia Book Of Record Certificate of Appreciation Ceremony was held on 15 April 2023 at Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) 2023 Seminar.
The presentation of the Certificate of Recognition was presented by Puan Siti Hajar Johor, Senior Record Consultant MBOR to Tuan Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd, President of MPHS witnessed by YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, Exco of Local Government, Public Transport and Kampung Baru Development on 15 April 2023
The President of MPHS, Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd said this recognition is a good achievement by MPHS and as a catalyst for our party's enthusiasm through the MPHS Landscape Department in organizing this program in the future in uplifting and dignifying the landscape.
He said WLAM is an international program organized by the American Society of Landscape Architect (ASLA) organized together with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) which is held throughout the month of April every year.
This year is the seventh time the celebration is held and this year's celebration is very special because the Most Honorable Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Dato' Menteri Besar of Selangor himself officiated the launch ceremony of this celebration which was held on 01 April 2023.
In the same ceremony, MPHS launched the first Hulu Selangor Municipal Council Landscape Blueprint 2035 (HSLaBP). This blueprint will be used as a landscape guideline in the Hulu Selangor District which is complete for the reference of the landscape development plan and maintenance. This blueprint also covers landscape design development planning in Hulu Selangor District to develop public parks in line with the speed of development and population density in this district.
